First, choose just THREE questions from the eight below
and write at least a one paragraph response for each of the questions you
chose. Put all the paragraph responses under the same comment. Include any
evidence from the reading to prove your arguments (your point of views).
Next, after you have
written your comments, then write a one to two sentence reply to
someone else's paragraphs.
Finally, this blog assignment
is due no later than 9 AM on Friday, December 7, 2012.
Here are the
questions. Remember to choose only THREE to answer.
- What is the explanation which Montag and Faber arrive at for how so very much could have happened within one week? Why? Explain your answer.
- Describe the effects of the war as Montag imagined them. Why? Explain your answer.
- What is the promise at the end of the novel? Why? Explain your answer.
- What’s up with those chapter divisions? Does the plot seem suited to its three-part format? What do you make of those chapter titles? Explain your answer.
- Does the violence prevalent in the futuristic world of this novel comment in any way on our own society? Do we, in a way, love violence as well? Is there anything wrong with that? What’s healthy and what’s not?
- Bradbury has stated that the novel is not about censorship, but since Captain Beatty cites censorship as one of the main reasons books ended up banned, we’re going to ask you this question anyway: where can we draw the line with appropriate censorship and shameless destruction of information?
- Check out the cover image for the 50th Anniversary Edition. What do you make of the fact that a man, made of books, is being burned, rather than just a pile of books?
- Bradbury says his novel is about TV replacing books, not about censorship. Does he get to say what his book is about? Is he “right”?
#4 I think that the chapter divisions was meant to be like a play-like story. The plot doesn't really seen suited to the three-part format, because they have many different settings to each chapter. The chapter titles were only affiliated to the chapter about sixty percent of the time.
ReplyDelete#6 Captain Beatty did say that the books were banned because of censorship, but it was the people of the city that didn't want the books. Appropriate censorship is when you ban something from a city or town or even a country. Shameless destruction of information is when you ban something, and you try to take away that something from the whole world.
#7 The 50th Anniversary Edition of "Fahrenheit 451" was most likely to mean that even though books were banned, some people still liked them and probably hid them in their houses or somewhere. If they would get caught though, they would most likely be put into jail.
I Agree with all of your awnsers, especially the first one.
DeleteI agree with all of it.
DeleteI agree with you on number 6.
Delete#7 The reason in why the 50th Anniversary Edition of "Fahrenheit 451" was a man made out of books being burned was because it was trying to tell people that not only were they burning the book, but they were also burning someone else. People liked the books, and not being able to read them or even have them can hurt someone.
ReplyDelete#2 The affects of the war as montag imagened them were Faber, Clarrise, Mildred, and the book of Ecclesiastes. As montag was on the ground he thought of them. He thought if faber was ok. He knew where he had met Mildred, Chicago. He also thought about Clarrise. He also remembered the book and knew every word.
#3 The promise was that a new era was about to begin. He got undressed and put on a Gangers clothes. He wasnt going to be that fireman anymore. He was done with it.
I defently agree with #7
Delete#4 I thinks that the chapter divisions was meant to be like a play kind or something like that. The plot has three chapter but its got many different settings through out each chapter just like if it were a play.
ReplyDelete#6 Captain Betty said that books were banned cause of censorship, but it was the people of the city who didn't want the books. the reason for that was cause t.v. was taking over and no one wanted to read them. Appropriate censorship is when you ban something from a city, state, or even a country. Shameless destruction of info is when you ban something which in the story would be the books you try to take away that thing from the whole entire world.
#7 The 50th Anniversary edition of "Fahrenheit 451" was most likely to mean that even though books were banned, some people still liked them and were interested in them they still hid them in their houses or some where no no one could find it. If they would get caught though, there house was to be burned to the ground and the owner would be thrown in jail or worse.
I agree with comment number 6, on how Beatty didnt want any of the books banned.
Delete8) Bradbury is right to a point. Some people are addicted to television and other technology. But there are others that aren't as in to television and technology.
ReplyDelete5) In our world today there are some people that do love violence and there are some that don't. Everyday it seems that someone is killing someone else and those are the people that love violence. So I think I is bad to but there are plenty of people that do love violence.
7) A man is on there because in the story montag is a guy with book and the main character. People like to read and get smarter. The man being burned is like everything being burned all together.
5. Our world today has turned into something else, becasue every other day there is a shooting or something bad happened. Violence doesn't solve anything it only makes it worse. In this story half of the events are about violence. Some of those people were raised the wrong way and they dont know from right from wrong.
ReplyDelete7. The 50th Anniversary edition of "Fahrenheit 451 was burned because it wanted to take away personal memories and everyone. By bruning all of these books is would take away all of the bad memories that people had at once. Remebering a bad memory is very bad to have becasue it will taunt you in the future.
8. Bradbury explains how technology is getting to be a drug for some people. Half of the people arent addicted to techology as others which is very weird. Bradbury describes whta going to happen in the near future and how this world is going to look in the future.
5. In this current era there have been lots of violence going on around the world. People killing others for no reason and those who have killed to save their life but it have to stop. Not everybody in society love violence just those who went the wrong path. 7. The cover for the 50th Anniversary edition wanted to show readers that knowledge wss being taken away from society. Without books life would almost be ran like we're robots and we dont need that to happen. 8 I believe Bradbury had every right to tell weather his if his book was censorship or not. If he was the one who came up with the story why shouldn't he have that right. Me personally I believe that just because he some censorship in the story don't mean its just about that.
ReplyDelete5. The futuristic violence is absolutely a comment on our society. Violence, in a way, is our whole life. The wars, killings, murders, even killing games are only promoting exception to this in our society. Then if you combine the technological advances with the society exception of violence we really have a problem. Now we have advanced weapons, bombs, guns whatever you can imagine really. Maybe man loves violence, majority but I see it ruining and peeling away at persons values.
ReplyDelete6. I don't think there should be censorship on information. Censorship visually on tv, or when they bleep the words sure thats acceptable because a child not fit for the language/ visual aspect may be around. But in books, the government, or war should not be censored because, why censor the truth about this world and all the people in it
(Sorry I had to post in two comments because it wouldn't let me type)
ReplyDelete8. Of course he gets to say what his book is about. He created it. But we as the readers can only
#5 Violence is not something that anyone should be proud of to let happen. It does not solve anything and it is something that is not safe for our society. But after all, violence cannot be prevented in any way and maybe it is fate for it to happen, that's why we have police officers. Everything has a reason, why it happened.
ReplyDelete#7 A man, made of books is being burned, rather than just a pile of books because it shows that not only books are being burn but also people are being burned. For example, when the lady also burned herself because her books were burned and she really loved to read. She did not just burn herself to show that she really loved to read books but also that their society is out of hand.
#8 I think that Bradbury should get a say at what his book is about. But then on the other hand, there are readers that think differently from the author's perspective of the book. I also think that no one is right or wrong on this because it is their opinion.
I agree with all your answers especially answer # 7
Delete7) I Thing The 50th Annaversiary Edition Is A Picture Of A Burning Man Because While All The Books Were Being Burnd So Were All Of The Book Lovers Hearts. I Connected This More To Captain Baetty Because He Was Burnt And He Knew A lot About Books. I Think Beatty Owned A lot Of Books And Had Somewhat Of A Passion For The Books.
ReplyDelete4) I Think The Chapter Divions Have To Do With Ray Bradbury Trying To Make This Novel Into Some Type Of Play. Different Sections And Different Scenarios Can Potentially Be Turned Into A Play. The Different Chapter Titles Don't Have To Much To Do With The Actual Chapter, They'll Mention The Chapter Title Maybe Once And That's It. Everything Else Is Irrelevant.
3)A New Time In History Was About To Start. And Montag Wasn't Going To Do His Old Job Anymore. He Was Going To Start Of Fresh And New.
8) Bradbury right . people are addicted to television and other technology. But there are others that aren't as in to television and technology.
ReplyDelete5) our world today some people love violence and there are some that don't. Everyday it seems that someone is killing someone else and those are the people that love violence. I think I is bad to but there are people that do love violence.
7) A man is on there because in the story montag is a guy with book and the main character. People like to read and get smarter. The man being burned is like everything being burned.
