  1. Faber says that the quality of information, leisure to digest it, and the right to carry out actions based on what we learn from the interaction of the first two are missing from society. When he says the quality of information he is talking about books and how they are not in the society. Also if there are books in society they get destroyed. Leisure and digest means that people in the society are do not have the time to sit down and think, they are to focused on there TVs and radios. The last thing is saying that they do not have a right to think or learn. They are not aloud to go about and use what the learn about or talk about what they think. This is what Faber means about what is missing in society.

Montag reads "Dover Beach" aloud to the ladies because it tells them the truth about there society. They become sad at first. One actually starts to cry. Then they get mad at him for making her cry. Also they are mad at him for reading a book to them and to tell them the truth. They eventually ending up storming out of the house and said they will never come back again.

  3. 1.)"The Sieve and the Sand,” which comes from Montag's childhood memory of trying to fill a sieve with sand on the beach to get a dime from his cousin. He compares this memory to his attempt to read the whole Bible as quickly as possible on the subway in the hope that, if he reads fast enough, some of the material will stay in his memory. The sand is symbolic of the truth Montag is looking for and how the human mind seeks the truth. The meaning of the title was that in order to make a change in the world you need backup from others.

2.)Montag goes to see Faber to get a better understanding of books ; why they were banned ,the importance , and etc. Montag had remembered that he had met him at a park and known he was an English professor so he had wanted to know what he knew about books. With the help of Faber, he had been able to understand the importance of books.Faber tells Montag that saving books is important, people must be free to read books and act on the information that they obtain from books.

  4. the meaning to the title of part 2 in the book means that you really cant change something on your own. i honestly think that in order to change something really big and important in life into something totally different and personalized by you, then it would be so crazy and you wouldn't have such power to do so.
especially in montages way of life, there is no such way that someone else can just come in and change the way they live and think about their lives. it would be a really stupid act if you try to completely change someones way of living.

montage goes to see faber because he has the curiosity of why the books are here and what are the real meaning behind books. montage also wonders why in his home, books aren't allowed nor why they aren't allowed to even read a book. faber then explains the reason for books existence and what they really are. what is missing from society is the way of expressing the beliefs over books to other people.

  6. 1. "The Sieve in the Sand" means that it doesn't matter how much you are willing to change the world, it will not work unless it other people agree on completing the task.

    6. Montag reads "Dover Beach" to the ladies because it shows how their present society is like. The ladies finally realize what their society has become and starts to become emotional. There emotions are out of control, so they question Montag on why did he read them the book. Afterwards, the emotional group of ladies get out of the house.

  7. 1) "The Sieve and the Sand" refers to two incidents: one from Montag's childhood and one from the present. In the past, Montag, a cousin challenged Montag. The more sand you put in it, the faster the sand pours out. This is similar to how the more Montag learns and is introduced into the 'real' world, the faster he starts to fall apart and give intro reading.

    2) "Dover Beach" is a poem about the instability of life. It speaks of loss of faith and trust. Emotions became very unstable for the ladies. They realize how society works and soon demands Montag of why he had read them the book.

  9. Montag went to go see Faber. He went to Faber because he knew that he was an old english teacher. Montag needed help with what to do with all of his books because Captain Beety knew he had them. Faber thinks he should copy the books. Faber helps Montag with a shell in his ear so he can hear him.

  10. The girls in the Parlor are very one dementional. They just gossip a lot. They also just watch the tv where they dont have to think at all and the whole thing is just scripted. I do not think that Montag likes the girls a lot either. All they do is talk about the tv shows and complain.
